Driver for Santa Ana marijuana collective robbed, beaten in Lake Forest – OCRegister

LAKE FOREST – A driver for a marijuana collective was robbed and beaten with a gun in a parking lot while making a late-night delivery Tuesday, officials said.

Deputies are now trying to find who was behind the violent robbery, which occurred in the parking lot of an apartment building.

“Somebody was waiting for him,” said Lt. Lloyd Downing of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The assailant took cash and an undisclosed amount of marijuana, Downing said.

Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department learned about the robbery after the victim drove himself to St. Joseph Hospital in Orange to be treated for his injuries, Downing said.

The man told deputies he was making a scheduled delivery of marijuana, when a man armed with a handgun robbed him in the parking lot of the Saddleback Ranch Apartments, he said.

The robbery occurred at about 11:30 p.m., in the 23100 block of Los Alisos Boulevard, where the robber is believed to have struck the man repeatedly with the handgun.

The victim told deputies he worked with a marijuana collective based in Santa Ana.

No arrests have been made.
