VILLA PARK – Plans for a possible medical marijuana dispensary will be presented during a public hearing Thursday at the Villa Park Planning and Zoning Committee meeting.
Solace Solutions is proposing a dispensary at 851 N. Villa Ave., which is not currently zoned for a dispensary or marijuana cultivation center, according to Patrick Grill, director of community development for Villa Park.
The project would need rezoning approval because it does not fall in the village’s designated M1 District. It would also require a conditional use permit, Grill said.
Last month, Solace Solutions presented a plan for a dispensary from 633 to 639 North Addison Road, which is in the M1 District. However, the group removed its application before the issue reached a decision by the village.
After Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. presentation at Village Hall, 20 S. Ardmore Ave., the Planning and Zoning Committee can either request more information about the proposal or send a recommendation to the Village Board for consideration at Monday’s regular meeting.
Should the board approve the proposal, it would then be up to the state to decide if Villa Park receives one of the three dispensaries allowed in DuPage County. The state’s decision is not expected until December at the earliest, Grill said.
