Iowa City Police have charged a Cedar Rapids man after finding a variety of drugs and selling materials in his car.

At 2:23 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested Darian Gossett, 21, on Highway 218. He was initially pulled over for speeding, the complaint said.

When police searched his vehicle, they found more than 350 grams of marijuana in 14 packages, along with 39 containers of cannabis oil, 11 different marijuana edibles, 39.9 grams of marijuana wax, and about a dozen bags with an ounce of marijuana in each. 

Police also found packaging usually used to sell drugs, along with a digital scale, marijuana pipes, grinders and a methamphetamine pipe. There was also a large amount of cash in the car.

The complaint said the car also contained 4.4 grams of what police suspected to be methamphetamine, and two other containers of unlabeled prescription drugs. 

Gossett has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a serious misdemeanor; unlawful possession of prescription drugs, a serious misdemeanor; two drug stamp violations, Class D felonies; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor, and a controlled substance violation, a Class D felony. 

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of more than 17 years in prison on all charges.
