Year in Review 2017: First medical-marijuana dispensary clears local hurdles – Nantucket Island Inquirer

(Dec. 29, 2017) The reality of legalized marijuana, including medicinal and recreational pot shops, led to vocal opinions and arguments this fall over whether or not any of it was a good idea, despite the fact that local voters overwhelmingly approved legalizing cannabis during a statewide ballot initiative five years ago.

In the end, the approval of a medical-marijuana dispensary for the island focused on the mundane municipal process of zoning.

Summer residents Nicole and Rupert Campbell of Katonah, N.Y. hope to open their medical-marijuana dispensary The Green Lady at 11Amelia Drive, with sales planned for a former dentist’s office at the rear of the .30acre property and cultivation, storage and processing operations in a two-story building fronting on the street.
