As Fisher continues crusade against Story Dispensary, she wants Hoboken council colleagues to join her – NJ.com

While residents in Hoboken’s Second Ward have fought a cannabis dispensary that has applied to open on Hudson Street, their councilwoman has been right alongside them, when not directly leading their effort.

Now, Second Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher wants her city council colleagues to take a similar stand against the new business.

She and co-sponsor Councilwoman Jen Giattino plan to soon introduce a resolution calling on the Story Dispensary applicants to drop their bid to open at the former Hudson Tavern at 14th and Hudson streets.

The resolution was initially planned for Wednesday’s meeting, but Fisher removed it while anticipating that there would be low turnout due to summer vacations.

The Planning Board, meanwhile, will embark on its third public hearing Thursday to consider the application.

Questioning from an attorney hired by the residents of the condominium building where the dispensary would open has slowed the application process, and the Hoboken Planning Board’s review will likely be extended to the next meeting since several witness presentations remain.

Fisher said that her goal with the resolution is to further bring attention to the residents’ concerns that the dispensary will affect their quality of life and to show them that the city council as a whole supports them.
