The state began approving its first recreational marijuana licenses and a Bowling Green dispensary is among those receiving a “dual use” (medical and recreational) permit.

According to a searchable state database, the ZenLeaf dispensary at 1155 North Main Street obtained a provisional license as a dual use dispensary. The business is listed as Glass City Alternatives, LLC in the database.

Applications for recreational licenses opened early last month, but even after receiving approval, dispensaries face additional steps before they can begin selling recreational cannabis products, including obtaining a separate state certificate of operation. Additional requirements include enhanced security, providing documentation they can continue to supply medical patients once recreational sales begin, and implementing a sales system that can clearly distinguish between medical and recreational sales.
