Hyundai Hope on Wheels gives $300,000

Gary Rome, of Gary Rome Hyundai in Holyoke, joined Hyundai Hope on Wheels and presented a $300,000 check to Dr. David Sweetser at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Oct. 3.

Sweetser won the Scholar Hope Grant, which is a $300,000 two-year grant that is peer-reviewed and competitively selected. The grant supports the work of a pediatric oncologist, who is an physician-researcher at any level of their career at any Children’s Oncology Group-member institution and is doing translational research.

Gary Rome is the eastern region board member for Hyundai Hope on Wheels. He represents the 169 dealerships in the region.

“I would like to congratulate Mass General Hospital and Dr. David Sweetser and his team. We know that by working together, we can achieve our goal of reaching a day without pediatric cancer. Together, we can win the fight against pediatric cancer,” said Rome.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels is a non-profit organization that is committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer. Launched in 1998, Hyundai Hope on Wheels provides grants to eligible institutions nationwide that are pursuing critical research aimed at improving treatments and saving lives.
