Cancer Survivor Opens First Weed Dispensary In Downtown Jersey City – Patch

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Cancer survivor Amanda Handy knows well that cannabis can help people struggling with medical issues. On Friday, she was part of a team opening a new dispensary in Jersey City to help others access the substance.

The dispensary is now the second cannabis store to open in Jersey City and the first one in the downtown area.

It will eventually be able to sell cannabis for recreational use, but is now open just for medical use, officials said.

“Amanda began her journey in cannabis as a cancer survivor. She is proud to open as a medical dispensary, serving her community. Although – recreation use will be coming soon!” said a social media post from the Downtown Special Improvement District.

“We commend Amanda, Stacey and their team for all of the strength, effort and dedication they’ve poured into this business thus far,” they added.
