Brownies was originally opened as a CBD shop in Colonie two years ago. The business is owned by mother and son duo Kelly and Michael Hilland.

Brownies was awarded a Conditional Adult Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) license by the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) in July 2023. The dispensary will be selling THC flower, cartridges, edibles, topicals, oils, and concentrates.

“Brownies goal is to reinvest back into the Capital Region through volunteering and donations to local charities,” said Michael Hilland.

Hilland said they have also been filming a documentary about the process of opening a dispensary that they hope to share on some major streaming platforms. Brownies moved from 1593 Central Avenue to 1686 Central Avenue in October as they needed a bigger space.
