A coalition of nonprofits, cannabis trade groups and suppliers will host a free two-day event in Deer Park to help guide potential entrepreneurs in opening cannabis dispensaries.
Dubbed the New York State Official Dispensary Showroom Tour, the event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15 at 94 East Industry Court, the home of a soon-to-open dispensary called the Long Island Cannabis Club.
Organized by The Bronx Community Foundation, Dutchie, Temeka, KayaPush, and Cannabis Workforce Initiative, the tour is making stops throughout the state to propel the New York cannabis industry forward with hands-on education for prospective dispensary owners and operators.
Attendees will be able to explore a life-sized replica of a cannabis dispensary and find out what it needs to be fully compliant under state law. Educational workshops taught by some of the first conditional dispensary licensees will help guide future dispensary operators and budtenders to understand what it takes to launch and operate adult-use cannabis retail dispensaries.
“A lot of these licensees who were getting awarded and able to open up a dispensary had never been inside a licensed, legal dispensary before,” said Anne Forkutza, head of
