On a sunny Saturday morning (June 2), the doors to Taos Canyon Cannabis Company were wide open, inviting passersby to take in the sights and smells of the most recent dispensary to take root in town. Located in the former Taos Diner II building (216A Paseo del Pueblo Sur), the dispensary is the fifth recreational cannabis store to open in Taos in the four months that have passed since non-medical sales became legal.
With (non-cannabis) plants adorning the walls and tables, and art by local graffiti virtuoso Jisk27, the dispensary feels more like a friend’s living room than a cannabis dispensary, at least compared to other local standards.
The vision comes from experienced cannabis entrepreneur Dillon Gross and local Taos resident Shane Brocchini — longtime friends who came together to create a vision, they say, for providing the best quality cannabis products for the region.
Experience in the industry
Gross and Brocchini bring a different approach to the local cannabis scene. With the two friends initially beginning in the music production and promotion field, they gradually shifted their focus toward greener pastures, with both entrepreneurs involved in the Colorado recreational cannabis boom.
