City Council OKs special permit for Leominster’s first marijuana store – Leominster Champion

Leominster is close to getting its first marijuana store.

The City Council voted 7-0, with one abstention, on Monday, Nov. 22 to issue a special permit to Revolutionary Clinics so it can open a recreational marijuana dispensary at 130 Pioneer Drive, near the Orchard Hill Park shopping plaza.

If approved by the state’s Cannabis Control Commission, the Leominster store would be Revolutionary Clinics’ fourth dispensary, and its first offering marijuana for recreational purposes. It operates three medical marijuana dispensaries in Cambridge and Somerville, along with a growing and manufacturing facility called Revolutionary Farms in Fitchburg.

During last week’s public hearing on its special permit application, Revolutionary Clinics co-founder and Fitchburg native Ryan Ansin said he was “excited to be here in Leominster” and open a facility in the area where he grew up.
