Curaleaf proposes first recreational marijuana store in Hartford – Hartford Courant

An application for what could become Hartford’s first hybrid cannabis dispensary — both medical and adult-use — is on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the planning and zoning commission.

Curaleaf, which owns Arrow Alternative Care medical dispensary, has requested that the 92 Weston St. location in the North Meadows be allowed to sell adult-use cannabis, too.

The location has housed a medical dispensary since 2014. “Curaleaf took over the operations in April 2020 and since that date has operated with no complaints from the surrounding community,” according to the project narrative submitted to the PZC.

“Use as a Hybrid Retailer is not expected to change operations from that of a Dispensary. The only difference will be that there will be a dedicated expedited line for medical patients and medical-only points of service … stations to prioritize medical patients,” according to that project narrative.

The project plan indicates that no changes would be made to the building, which sits at the corner of Weston and West Service Road, near I-91. Built in 1978, it also houses a tattoo parlor, a sign manufacturer and office space.
