Despite objections, Middletown approves cannabis dispensary on Route 66 – Middletown Press

Bluepoint Wellness of Connecticut, with locations in Branford and Westport, will be expanding its operations to the center of the state at the old Bank of America building at 895 Washington St., next door to a Starbucks in the Home Depot plaza.

The parcel, which contains 26 parking spots, sits on .58 acres. The property is owned by Middletown Washington LLC of Clifton, N.J.

Pharmacist and Bluepoint Wellness principle Nick Tamburrino, who requested the special zoning amendment exception, said at the Sept. 14 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting that he has been involved in the state’s cannabis program since 2014, and was one of the first six dispensaries to be licensed by the state.

He opened the Westport facility in 2018.

Tamburrino said he has applied for a dispensary license for the Middletown site from the state, and expects it will be granted. “This is not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when,” he said at the meeting.
