CATSKILL — The site plan for a cannabis dispensary in Catskill was approved unanimously by the Village of Catskill Planning Board at its meeting Monday.

The dispensary, named Catskill Roots, will be located at 79-81 Maple Ave. (Route 9W) and is the first approved cannabis dispensary in Catskill.

The house located at the front of the property will be converted into a cafe, and the garage at the rear of the property will be converted into the dispensary. A log cabin on the property will be dismantled and removed.

The rear of the property, off Cowles Street and Edgemere Hill Road, will be used for deliveries and staff parking. There will also be 20 parking spots on site for the dispensary and cafe.

The dispensary will be under 24-hour surveillance, and the feed from security cameras on the property will be tied directly into the Catskill Village Police Department.

Kevin Conklin, chief architect at Conklin Architecture, said at the planning board’s meeting Monday that additions to the site plan had been made at the board’s request.
