A line of people waited outside the dispensary, one of 13 recreational marijuana retailers now open for customers in New Jersey.

“Definitely knowing where it came from, that it’s regulated and it’s not just I got it from this guy on the corner and I don’t know where it came from or what it is,” says Ryan Dewson, of Delanco. “I think it is definitely way more positive.”

For Burlington County resident Jessic Bassett, it’s a blessing, providing expanded access to the drug, as she deals with effects of Lupus.

“I can go around the corner and get what helps me be normal, something for my pain,” says Bassett. “I don’t have to wait for a doctor to call me three days later and you know I’m sitting there three days later in pain.”

So far, New Jersey’s recreational marijuana market has logged $24 million in sales in its first month.

Curaleaf in Edgewater Park employs around 70 full and part-time employees. State regulators voted Tuesday to grant permits to nearly a dozen new recreational cannabis retailers.
