EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Police reportedly found more than a pound of marijuana in an Evansville apartment Tuesday night, leading to two arrests.
Khiry Waddell and Bianka Washington, both 19, were booked into Vanderburgh County Jail early Wednesday on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.
An Evansville Police officer working off-duty at Mary Street apartments near downtown reported seeing Waddell walk up to a car near the apartments and perform what looked like a drug deal.
Waddell walked back inside after telling the officer he lived in the apartment complex, according to a probable cause affidavit.
While doing rounds, the officer smelled marijuana outside an apartment. He called for a patrol car, and multiple police officers entered the apartment after Washington reportedly opened the door.
Police executed a search warrant on the apartment and reported finding a scale, a box of sandwich bags and a metal grinder as well as several bags of marijuana. The affidavit states one bag held 73 grams, about 2.5 ounces, of marijuana, and another held 446 grams, or about 15.7 ounces of the drug.

Washington and Waddell were taken into custody. According to the affidavit, officers found $1,168 in cash while searching Waddell and $2,170 elsewhere in the home.
The two people arrested have not yet been formally charged in Vanderburgh County as of Wednesday morning. Waddell does have a case pending in Vanderburgh Superior Court where he was charged with two counts of dealing narcotics as a level 5 felony and one count of dealing marijuana as a level 6
