Firm seeking to open Montgomery marijuana dispensary awarded conditional state licenses – Kendall County Now

The firm seeking to open a marijuana dispensary in Montgomery is among the organizations recently awarded conditional state of Illinois dispensing licenses.

The World of Weed, LLC, was issued five Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses, according to information released Friday by Gov. JB Pritzker’s office.

The state’s release of the licenses marks the first issuance of the conditional licenses since Illinois legalized marijuana for adult use under the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act in 2019.

World of Weed and the other organizations awarded conditional licenses will now have 180 days to select physical storefront locations and then obtain full Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses, according to Pritzker’s office.

If a conditional licensee is unable to find a suitable physical location within the 180-day period, they may request an extension of 180 days. Once issued an Adult Use Dispensing Organization License, a business may begin purchasing and dispensing adult use marijuana.

In Montgomery, the Village Board approved a special use permit in a split 3-2 ballot April 25 to allow the World of Weed to open a marijuana dispensary in the former BMO Harris Bank at 1970 Caterpillar Drive just east of Orchard Road, south of Route 30.
