First NYS-Licensed Cannabis Dispensary for Utica-Rome to Open in January – WKTV

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) — The first New York State-licensed cannabis dispensary in the Utica-Rome area is already operating online and delivering its product.

Air City Cannabis plans to open its brick-and-mortar, fully-licensed dispensary in January 2024 in a 5,000-square-foot space at the west end of the Live It Downtown complex.

The owners of the business said the licensing process took some time, but they are excited to open with their full-retail NYS cannabis dispensary license from the state in 2024.

As for the location, the owner of Live It Downtown, Alex Carbone, said the owners of Air City Cannabis have goals that align with his.

The first state cannabis dispensary in the Utica-Rome area is already delivering its products.

“Their vision is a lot like mine, and that is to bring jobs to Utica,” Carbone said. “They are going to bring 20+ jobs to this area when they open.”

The dispensary, one of just two that will be licensed at this time in the Mohawk Valley, will be much different from the small stores that seem to pepper neighborhoods around the region.
