Beginning July 1, the state will begin receiving applications for medical cannabis licenses.

The state is set to issue 48 licenses, spread across 11 regions.

The Cumberland region, which includes Russell County, has been allotted four (4) licenses.

Along with Russell County, the region includes 13 other counties in southern and southeast Kentucky.

Other counties in the region are Bell, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Harlan, Knox, Laurel, Lincoln, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties.
