GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A Grand Rapids-based construction and development firm plans to turn a vacant lot on the city’s West Side into a four-story building that would house its headquarters, a recreational marijuana store and office space.
Construction Simplified aims to start construction on the four-story building at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Fulton Street in mid-April, with a tentative completion date in September or October.
The top two floors of the $4 million construction will house Construction Simplified’s headquarters, with leased office space on the second floor and a marijuana dispensary operated by Cloud Cannabis on the first floor.
Along with Pharmhouse Wellness, a dispensary at 831 Wealthy St. SW, it will be one of the closest recreational marijuana retailers to downtown.
The development, which Construction Simplified partnered with Cloud Cannabis on, has been three years in the making, said Brent Gibson, founding partner and president of the firm.
Founded seven years ago, Construction Simplified is currently located about four blocks west of the development, and it’s a space the firm has outgrown, Gibson said.
“I started (Construction Simplified) after leaving a large West Michigan management firm knowing that I had some personal passions to make development as part of every day business
