Las Cruces Police arrest man accused of deadly shooting outside dispensary – KRQE News 13

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – A 20-year-old man was arrested for a deadly shooting in Las Cruces on Dec. 23, Las Cruces Police said.

Xavier Noe Altamirano, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for the death of 23-year-old Steven Alarcon. Altamirano is charged with a second-degree felony count of murder and one second-degree felony count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle.

Las Cruces police were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the parking lot of Top Crop dispensary at 2240 E. Lohman Ave. and found Alarcon dead. Detectives learned that Altamirano was a passenger in a blue GMC Sierra 1500 that was driven by Jesus Adan Herrera.

Police said that Herrera and Alarcon got into a verbal argument, which escalated when Altamirano reportedly shot several rounds at Alarcon who was outside of the vehicle.

The GMC Sierra left the scene before police arrived. Herrera was arrested on Dec. 27 and charged with multiple felonies including tampering with evidence, violating terms of his probation, conspiracy to commit a second-degree felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Herrera and Altamirano are both being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention
