Oak Forest residents Ashley and Cory Condrey want to change the taboo perception of the cannabis industry, specifically as it pertains to CBD.
“I think one of the biggest things people are confused by is that you are not going to have a psychoactive effect (with CBD),” Ashley said. “It’s something that can be taken by anyone or children without a mind-altering effect on them.”
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound in the hemp plant that is used for a variety of reasons, such as pain relief, anxiety, stress relief, depression, sleep aid, anti-nausea, headaches, arthritis, tremors, seizures and mood stabilization. CBD does not contain THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
To create a family-friendly space where people can come in and learn more about CBD products, the Condrey couple is opening C & Co Dispensary at 3344 E. T.C. Jester Blvd. on Aug. 21.
Ashley and Cory said they had been considering opening a dispensary for six months, and signed a lease in April.
