Mississippi senators voted Thursday to advance a bill that would create a medical marijuana program, sending it to the House for more work.
#One lawmaker started the debate by quoting Bob Dylan’s “Everybody Must Get Stoned.” It was a double reference to perceptions about recreational use of the drug and the criticism the lawmaker himself has faced from the governor.
“They’ll stone you when you’re walking on the street. They’ll stone you when you’re tryin’ to keep your seat. … I would not feel so all alone. Everybody must get stoned,” Republican Sen. Kevin Blackwell of Southaven said, using a Dylan sing-song at the end.
