‘MOM’: El Centro’s 1st Pot Dispensary Opens – Calexico Chronicle

EL CENTRO — Almost six years after Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, was passed by California’s voters, Imperial County’s most populous city is getting its first taste of retail cannabis culture, with the first and only storefront in El Centro.

Setting up at a location that needed some major revitalization, Megan’s Organic Market had its “soft” opening on Thursday, Aug. 3, at 599 N. LaBrucherie Road with a “grand opening” event scheduled for Aug. 26.

“Megan’s is thrilled to be opening our next storefront in El Centro,” company founder Megan Souza said on Thursday. “Everyone we’ve met and worked with throughout the application process has been so lovely and welcoming.”

Megan’s Organic Market, also known as “MOM,” to its loyal customers, was founded in 2013 in San Luis Obispo, where Souza is from. MOM first applied for its retail permit in El Centro in 2021.
