Employees and family members of Ocean Breeze Cultivators were busy Friday getting ready to open the company’s first retail cannabis dispensary at 9 Whistlestop Way downtown, in a building adjacent to the Railroad Avenue station, this Saturday.
The new marijuana retail store will be the third dispensary in Gloucester. It joins Happy Valley Ventures’ recreational and medical dispensary, and cultivation and manufacturing facility at 38 Great Republic Drive.
Happy Valley was Cape Ann’s first marijuana dispensary. It was recently joined by the Reverie 73 recreational dispensary at the Mobil station at 65-73 Essex Ave., according to the latter’s website.
The family-owned Ocean Breeze Cultivators, established in 2018, won a special permit to open the downtown dispensary at the end of 2021. It operates a sizeable, 43,000 square-foot cannabis cultivation and production facility at 11 Dory Road.
The company said in a prepared statement it has “established itself as a leading cultivator and provider of high-quality cannabis products, renowned for its commitment to quality growing practices and superior customer service.”
As a wholesaler, the company’s locally produced cannabis products can be found in dozens of marijuana dispensaries throughout Massachusetts, but the downtown store is Ocean Breeze Cultivators’ first foray with its own dispensary.
