The company celebrated on Feb. 23 as it expanded its brand to Scottsdale for the first time, hosting a grand opening party with music, swag bags, nonmedicated tacos and ticket giveaways to “Bob Marley: One Love.” Because, of course, they did.

The Scottsdale dispensary is Mint’s sixth store in the Valley — the fifth one opened in the West Valley in February 2023 — along with six dispensaries in Michigan and one in Missouri. Located at 8729 E. Manzanita Drive, it is not far from Talking Stick Resort.

Maryland dispensary fined $26,000 for selling cannabis that sat in dumpster for two days – CBS News

BALTIMORE — A Maryland dispensary has been fined $26,000 for selling cannabis that sat in a dumpster for two days, according to a consent order from the Maryland Cannabis Administration.

According to the consent order, 224 grams of cannabis were thrown into a dumpster outside Curio’s Far & Dotter dispensary, where it sat for 41 hours and nine minutes.

Surveillance footage showed three dispensary employees retrieving four boxes containing the pre-packaged product from the dumpster.  More footage showed another employee then repackage the cannabis, removing them from the original boxes, and placing them into plastic bags, before storing them inside a vault.

The employee informed an investigator from the MCA, that the cannabis had to be placed in the plastic bags because the original packages were covered in a liquid substance acquired from the dumpster, according to the order.

In an email, an inventory manager said he advised that the product be destroyed as it violates several compliance requirements, but management “insisted on not losing profit.”  Then, the location sold the product between July 28 and August 3, 2023, raking in a total of $3,174.50 in sales.

The manager’s employment at Far & Dotter was “terminated” on or about Aug. 20, 2023, according

Brooklyn’s first dispensary owned by a Black woman opened in Park Slope on Thursday as honor Mayor Eric Adams pledged to crack down on illegal weed stores in New York City.

Adams joined East New York resident Leeann Mata to celebrate her new shop, Matawana Cannabis Dispensary, at 5th Avenue and 14th Street. Matawana is the sixth legal dispensary to open in Kings County after the state resolved a long legal battle that held up licensing — the borough’s first legal retail marijuana store opened in Gravesend just over two months ago.

“I am encouraged to see the quickening pace of legal retail dispensary openings in the city and thank our colleagues at Cannabis NYC and the Office of Cannabis Management for all that they are doing to support the growth of the local market,” said Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development, and Workforce Maria Torres-Springer, in a statement.

Eric Adams Went in a NYC Weed Dispensary for the First Time (But Didn’t Buy Anything) – Hell Gate

On a chilly Leap Day morning, Mayor Eric Adams smiled as he stood next to Queens State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, Cannabis NYC Founding Director Dasheeda Dawson, a mute Sheriff Anthony Miranda, and new dispensary owner Leeann Mata to talk business in the weed shop—Matawana Dispensary, the first to open under with the help of a new Housing Works-sponsored network called the CAURD Community initiative, and the first dispensary in Brooklyn owned by a Black woman.

The tone of the proceedings was accordingly triumphant, optimistic: “To have a shop open here on 5th Avenue is really—you’re like the modern day George Jefferson, movin’ on up!” Adams said to Mata, to hearty laughter from the room. “This dispensary opening is the signature to what we want to accomplish and what we want to do throughout the city,” he continued. “We are lighting up our economy with the nation’s most equitable cannabis industry. Others attempted, and they didn’t get it right—we want to make sure we’re getting it right, and we’re making history.”

Mata, whose dispensary will officially open at—wink—4:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon, thanked Adams for his support with a Matawana-branded gym bag, decorated with her dispensary’s logo, some stray nuggets of weed, and emblazoned

NC’s first marijuana dispensary set to open in Cherokee. Mark your calendar for … 420 – Yahoo! Voices

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in western North Carolina has set an opening date for the only dispensary in the state to legally buy marijuana.

In a historic vote on Sept. 7, 2023, tribal members overwhelmingly approved adult use of marijuana on tribal land. The tribe on the 57,000-acre Qualla Boundary had already approved the use and controlled sale of medical cannabis.

Elder Cherokee women work together to trim leaves from dried cannabis stems for the flowers, so the remaining buds can be collected and used as product.

The tribe plans to open the dispensary on April 20, Lee Griffin, human resources director for the tribe’s cannabis subsidiary, Qualla Enterprises LLC, told the tribal council during a council work session on Wednesday.

April 20 is recognized by marijuana users and producers as the national cannabis holiday.

“Across the country, it’s the biggest revenue date for cannabis,” Griffin said, according to a Charlotte Observer review of the tribe’s recording of the meeting. “It’s like New Year’s Eve at the casino.”

A hoop house is teeming with flowering cannabis plants on a farm owned and operated by Qualla Enterprises, LLC in Cherokee, NC. Cannabis plants reach the flowering stage after eight to eleven weeks. Once the plant

Eight In Ten Americans Have A Marijuana Dispensary In Their County, And Shops ‘Cluster’ Near Borders With Illegal … – Marijuana Moment

Eight in ten Americans now live in a county with at least one marijuana dispensary, according to a new report from the Pew Research Center. The analysis also shows that high concentrations of retailers often “cluster” near borders abutting other states that have “less permissive cannabis laws”—indicating that there’s a large market of people who live in still-criminalized jurisdictions who cross state lines to purchase regulated products.

With cannabis still federally illegal, the report underscores the glaring policy disconnect as the number of states that have enacted legalization continues to grow.

Using data from the market research firm SafeGraph and the U.S. Census Bureau, Pew found that 79 percent of Americans live in a county with at least one medical or adult-use marijuana dispensary.

Since Ohio became the latest state to enact legalization last November, 54 percent of the U.S. population resides in a state where recreational cannabis is permitted, Pew said. And 74 percent now live in a state where marijuana is legal for either medical or adult-use purposes.

California stands out among other legal states, with 3,659 dispensaries—”more than double the amount in the next-closest state.”  An entire quarter of all cannabis shops in the U.S. are located
