Weed regulator touts progress as NJ passes 100 dispensaries – KYW

SOUTH JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey’s medicinal- and recreational-use cannabis marketplace has surpassed the 100-dispensary milestone.

Marijuana sales in the state reached nearly $675 million last year, according to Cannabis Regulatory Commission Executive Director Jeff Brown. The agency’s dispensary directory now shows 102 medicinal and recreational cannabis dispensaries across the state.

Brown says that shows the steady progress the marketplace has made, despite more than 60% of New Jersey municipalities opting out of having cannabis businesses in their jurisdictions.

“We’re covering 20 out of 21 counties,” Brown said. “Every week, we make more progress here. We see more and more growth, and this is a huge milestone in that continuum.”

Burlington, Camden and Atlantic Counties have the highest concentration of dispensaries in the state. Salem is the only county without one, but cannabis businesses have operating licenses in every county.

“More people across the state have access to safe, legal cannabis, and each week more people can purchase it at small, diversely owned businesses,” Brown said.

Md. state lawmakers move to prevent local restrictions on cannabis shops – The Washington Post

The question of where new cannabis dispensaries should set up shop in Prince George’s County divided the council last fall, igniting a layered debate about quality development and the potential for legalization to advance social equity in a county harmed by the War on Drugs.

While council members never settled on whether to restrict new shop locations, they are nearly united in opposing a move by state lawmakers that would block them from doing so in the future.

Twin bills slated for state legislative hearings later this month would limit local governments from establishing specific zoning requirements for dispensaries that are more restrictive than state guidelines — effectively ending an enduring debate in the affluent, majority-Black Washington suburb.

Cast by proponents as an effort to protect dispensary owners struggling to break into a new market, the proposals, County Council members said in interviews, would silence local voices on an issue that directly impacts them. This week, the body wrote a letter to its statehouse delegation stating its opposition.

New Cannabis Edible Has Hit Arizona Dispensary Shelves – AZmarijuana.com

Hedy Edibles has launched Hedy Dreamz Strawberry Lemonz cannabis gummies, a new product now available at select Arizona dispensaries.

The Hedy Dreamz Strawberry Lemonz gummies are a 5:1 ratio (5mg:25mg) of CBN to THC infused with “TruCBN” isolate. The gummies are designed for those looking to unwind and embrace a tranquil night of blissful sleep.

“Waking up rested and refreshed is something that everyone strives for, but unfortunately, it’s not always that easy. We are extremely proud that our new Hedy Dreamz Strawberry Lemonz gummies are another wellness tool for those looking for a restful night’s sleep,” said Jesse Channon, President, The Cannabist Company “Not only do these edibles taste amazing, but the trial-backed CBN isolate is meticulously incorporated to help maximize the edibles’ benefits. This is just another example of how our teams are always working to develop the most innovative and diverse products for our customers.”

Traditional oil-based edibles are processed by the liver, making it impossible, due to variabilities in liver function, to have a predictable experience. But Hedy’s TiME INFUSION technology creates a unique thermodynamic matrix of individually encapsulated cannabinoid molecules, resulting in a hydrophilic, or water-friendly ingredient. This hydrophilic technology bypasses that lengthy trip through

Notorious B.I.G. mural outside Brooklyn weed dispensary saved after outcry – New York Post

There will be life after death for a beloved mural of late rap legend Notorious B.I.G. – just days after it was painted over on orders from state regulators.

Bushwick cannabis dispensary Emerald sparked a heated controversy last week when passersby noticed the owners had blacked out the painting of young Biggie Smalls on their exterior wall.

But the founders told The Post they had no choice, and were instructed to do so by the the New York Office of Cannabis Management on the grounds the artwork violated its policy against “enticement” in store signage.

Dispensary co-founder Christina De Giovanni said the publicity and public outcry prompted OCM to issue a statement that paved the way for the rapper and Brooklyn native’s image to be restored at 85 Suydam St.

Dispensary owners express concerns over lost revenue, marijuana legalization hits dead end – WXOW.com

Another legislative session in Wisconsin is set to close without progress on the long-debated issue of marijuana legalization, leaving both Democrats and Republicans at odds over how to proceed.

MADISON (WKOW) — Another legislative session in Wisconsin is set to close without progress on the long-debated issue of marijuana legalization, leaving both Democrats and Republicans at odds over how to proceed.

For years, Democrats have made efforts to legalize recreational marijuana in the state, but this year saw a twist when Republicans proposed a bill to legalize medical marijuana. However, the proposal hit a dead end, with Senate Republicans opposing the inclusion of state-run dispensaries.

Local dispensary owners like Alan Robinson, Co-Owner of Herbal Aspect locations in the Madison area, shared his frustration at the ongoing political stalemate. He said the legislative body is not giving the people what they want.

Robinson sells CBD and other products containing THC, though at lower levels than recreational marijuana. Robinson said customers report similar effects to those obtained from out-of-state purchases.

“It’s quite clear that Wisconsinites use cannabis,” Robinson said. “It’s beyond time for our legislators to get up to speed with the

Proposed rules would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to sell recreational cannabis – 10TV

Gov. Mike DeWine has urged lawmakers to pass House Bill 86 which would allow recreational marijuana to be sold and increase the tax rate to 15%.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — More than three months since Ohioans voted to pass Issue 2, there is still no legal avenue to purchase cannabis in the state.

The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control Board has proposed new rules that would allow medical marijuana dispensaries to apply for dual-use licenses and sell recreational marijuana.

Nilendu Singh is the general manager at Nar Dispensary in downtown Columbus. He is eager for a license to sell recreational marijuana.

“We are ready to implement it overnight. I think that is where a lot of dispensaries are at too and Nar reserve is no different. The moment we get that license or we know we are getting it, we will be ready to roll it out that day,” Singh said.

He said the lack of vendors for recreational marijuana has been a source of confusion.

“We get phone calls all day long from people asking if we sell recreationally, and people don’t know, and that is the biggest problem,” he
