First cannabis dispensary in Fontana will open on April 1 – Fontana Herald-News

The first cannabis dispensary in Fontana will be opening on April 1, and a local resident is one of the co-owners of the establishment.

Embarc, an independent cannabis retailer with 13 locations statewide, received approval from the Fontana City Council earlier this year to operate a business at 9132 Sierra Avenue.

Cynthia Peña-Rodriguez, a social worker with a master’s degree from USC, owns the dispensary along with Lauren Carpenter.

The Fontana location is in a building owned by Cynthia’s parents, Enrique and Leticia Peña, first-generation Mexican-Americans who raised their family in Fontana and built a successful grocery business in La Puente. The building was purchased as an investment by Enrique and Leticia.

“Since meeting the Embarc team, my family and I have been enthused at the prospect of bringing responsible access to plant medicine to a community my family has loved for a long time,” Cynthia Peña-Rodriguez said. “We’re excited to be opening our doors and look forward to the many positive benefits the business can and will provide the community. “

In a news release, Carpenter added: “We are thrilled to be opening after a more than year-long outreach effort to understand the unique needs and priorities of this community. Many community members played

Nativa Cannabis tribal dispensary closes temporarily after workers quit – Buffalo News

Samantha Christmann

Nativa Cannabis, a Seneca Nation-licensed recreational cannabis dispensary in Niagara Falls, temporarily closed after workers quit their jobs and walked out over the weekend.

It is scheduled to reopen on a limited basis Wednesday.

Staff started leaving early last week and, by the weekend, the store was down to just a handful of workers.

“Closed until further notice. Management and staff walked out,” a paper sign in the door read Saturday. “For further details on a reopening plan, contact the company’s general manager.”

But soon after, that manager had quit as well.

General Manager Brittany Moore talks about operations at Nativa Cannabis, the new recreational cannabis dispensary on the Seneca Nation’s territory next to the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls.

Without enough people to staff the dispensary, it was closed Saturday, reopened Sunday, then closed again Monday and Tuesday.

“After making recent staffing adjustments, Nativa Cannabis is temporarily operating on a revised schedule. The dispensary will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday this week. We thank our dedicated staff and customers for their cooperation as we continue to actively recruit and hire additional staff,” Nativa Cannabis said in a statement.

Rep. Pfeiffer: Medical Marijuana License Update – Guthrie News Page – Guthrie News Page

I get asked all the time the number of medical marijuana license holders we have in Oklahoma.

Here are the latest figures from the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority. As of March 1, the number of licenses by category was:

347,849 patient 1,314 caregiver 4,119 growers 2,211 dispensaries 1,200 processors 90 transporters 26 laboratories.

Patient licenses were up by more than 2,500 from the prior month, and caregiver licenses were up by 10, but the number of growers was down by a little more than 200. The number of dispensaries was down by 72, processors by 48 and transporters by eight. The number of labs was the same.

This is down from a peak of about 10,000 licensed grows at the end of 2021.

Here are the most recent license numbers for counties in our House district:

Garfield: 22 dispensaries, 20 growers, seven processors and zero transporters. Grant: three dispensaries, five growers, one processor and zero transporters. Kay: 23 dispensaries, 54 growers, seven processors and two transporters. Logan: 50 dispensaries, 199 growers, 80 processors and four transporters. Noble: five dispensaries, nine growers, two processors and zero transporters.

The total number of commercial licenses has dropped each month

LETTER: North Carolina residents eager to celebrate dispensary opening – Cherokee One Feather

When I began the Change is Coming movement in 2020, the goal was to tear down the wall forcing cannabis users to die in the dark and allow them to finally grow in the light. In 2021, a few bricks fell with the introduction of SB711, The Compassionate Care Act.  When it passed the Senate that same year, a glimmer of light came through, but was quickly bricked back up by the North Carolina House.

In 2023, hopes were raised again when SB711 was renamed SB3 and passed the Senate a second time.  The NC House, brick and mortar in hand, snuffed out the light once more by letting the bill die a second time.

Throughout this fight, “Hold Fast NC, Change is Coming” was the movement’s mantra.  Thanks to the compassion of the EBCI, this month I finally changed that mantra to “Hold Fast NC, Change Has Come.”  The announcement of the 4/20 dispensary opening was the final blow needed to bring the wall crumbling down, and we got to feel the sunlight on our face again.

Since the announcement, hundreds of North Carolina residents have contacted me. From couples planning a weekend getaway to busloads of cannabis consumers

California Cannabis Litigation: Threats of License Loss and Injunctions

Table of Contents

An injunction is a request to the court for immediate relief from harm or potential harm. Its purpose is to stop harmful activity, prevent future misconduct or maintain the status quo during the pending litigation. While courts are often hesitant to grant such relief, recent trends suggest a shift in attitude, especially within the cannabis sector.

As any of our litigators will tell you, securing an injunction in California is no easy feat. But California courts may be willing to grant them if cannabis licenses are at stake, in addition to other circumstances such as actual or threatened intellectual property infringement.

What are the legal standards for injunctions?

To receive an injunction, a plaintiff must convince the court, among other things, of the likelihood of success on the merits of its claims and that it will suffer irreparable harm without the relief. As to the first part, the plaintiff must show it will likely succeed on at least one cause of action in its complaint. This does not mean a certainty of success, simply that the facts and the law demonstrate a good possibility of prevailing. While this may seem daunting, a well-pled complaint usually

Marijuana dispensary seeks special permit from Quincy zoning board – The Patriot Ledger

QUINCY − The developers planning a recreational marijuana store on Brook Road will ask the zoning board of appeals for a special permit Tuesday night.

Co-owners Maggie Suprey and Eleanor Winship told The Patriot Ledger they hope to open the women- and LGBTQ-owned Wildflower Cannabis at 159 Brook Road, a small lot in an industrial zone that currently holds construction equipment and vehicles, within a year.

“It’s about providing valuable jobs but also a good community partnership with the city of Quincy,” Winship said.

Suprey said, “We’re feeling really optimistic to get before the board, to present what we’ve worked really hard for a really long time on.”

Two cannabis stores already operate in the city: Quincy Cannabis Co. on Washington Street and the medical dispensary Panacea Wellness on Ricciuti Drive.

Two more recreational stores have come before the board since last summer. In August, a Braintree pharmacist received a special permit to open Pinnacle Cannabis at Water and Liberty streets, less than a quarter-mile from the Wildflower site. In December, the owner of a store in Cohasset got approval to open Chill and Bliss in a former Burger King at 503 Quincy Ave.
