New cannabis dispensary location proposed in Sabraton – Dominion Post – The Dominion Post

MORGANTOWN — Plans are underway to build a medical cannabis dispensary at the intersection of Hartman Run and Earl Core roads, in Sabraton.

The Morgantown Planning Commission signed off on a minor subdivision request this week splitting the large corner parcel that includes Ellie’s Cafe & Hot Spot into two parcels.

The vote went 6-1 with Commissioner Katie See voting in the minority. See explained her vote was not about cannabis, but the peculiar zoning situation.

The parcel is split-zoned, with the flat portions fronting Earl Core and Hartman Run roads zoned B-2 (service business) and the wooded hillside stretching up to Mineral Avenue zoned R-1A (single family residential).

See said she would have preferred the commission clean up the zoning before creating new parcels.

Either way, a representative of the project said the small building currently on the newly created parcel will be torn down to make room for the dispensary, which will sit about 600 feet as the crow flies from an existing dispensary, at 1397 Earl Core Road.

There’s another dispensary about 2 miles away, at 3227 Earl Core Road.

Of the 100 dispensary permits distributed statewide, 14 are in Monongalia County.

There are currently six dispensaries

SF Pot Dispensary CEO In Hot Water Over Video Where He Brags About Not Paying His Bills – SFist

The CEO of the Off The Charts dispensary chain, which has one location in San Francisco, has gone viral for the wrong reasons, in a video where he’s caught blustering to his colleagues he doesn’t pay “these f*cking mom and pops” vendors who supply his stores.

One of the dirty little secrets of the legal cannabis industry in California is that many dispensaries are in bad financial straits and way behind on paying their bills. Some marijuana growers and distributors (the groups legally licensed to transport weed from farms to dispensaries) have even started a “do not sell” list of retail dispensaries who are hundreds of thousands of dollars behind on their bills, according to the industry trade publication Marijuana Business Daily.

But the owner of the dispensary chain Off the Charts, which has 17 locations in California and one in SF at Bryant and Seventh streets, may have blacklisted himself. SFGate reports that the chain’s founder and CEO Norman Yousif was caught on a now-viral video bragging about not paying his vendors.

“You know how much money we’ve saved by not paying the vendors, because they’ve been out of business, or they never collected and they never lasted?,” Yousif says in

3 arrested after standoff at Anaheim illegal marijuana dispensary – OCRegister

Three people holed up at an illegal marijuana dispensary in Anaheim surrendered to police after a standoff that lasted about three hours Thursday.

Officers and investigators were doing a business check in the 900 block of South Euclid Street around 2 p.m., Sgt. Jon McClintock, spokesman for Anaheim Police, said.

“We received information and complaints it was an illicit marijuana dispensary,” he said.

It was located at the end of the strip mall, he said. Marijuana dispensaries are not allowed in the city.

Two men and a woman inside the dispensary refused to get out. Police called in members of SWAT and tactical negotiators, McClintock said.

Police evacuated one or two nearby businesses, he added.

The trio came out shortly after 5 p.m. They were arrested for various drug offenses, the sergeant said.

Las Vegas marijuana dispensaries prepared for a Super Bowl rush – Las Vegas Weekly

If you’re in Las Vegas for Super Bowl 58 on Sunday and enjoy cannabis, you’re in luck: recreational marijuana sales are legal in Nevada.

Adults 21 and over in Nevada can legally purchase and possess 2.5 ounces of flower or 7 grams of concentrate. But there’s a catch: you can’t smoke in public, in your hotel room or at Allegiant Stadium.

That limits cannabis use to private residences, barring restrictions from landlords. The only place for legal public consumption is the NuWu Cannabis consumption lounge, located on the Paiute reservation in downtown.

Eventually, 40 consumption lounges and cafes will be opening in Nevada, said Tina Ulman, the president of the Chamber of Cannabis. She expects an influx of cannabis customers leading up to the Super Bowl.

“However, it is a missed opportunity by the state of Nevada and the Cannabis Compliance Board to not have cannabis consumption special events yet,” she said, noting the significant loss in revenue for the industry.

Nevada dispensaries are stocking their shelves with more supplies, according to a report this week from LeafLink, the cannabis wholesale marketplace.

It says Nevada shops increased their wholesale purchases by 67% with cartridges, flower and edibles for the anticipated

Crew of 10 rob North Hills marijuana dispensary; 4 arrested – FOX 11 Los Angeles

Search for pot dispensary burglary suspects

Officials said a large burglary crew smashed into a dispensary in the San Fernando Valley and tried to take off with as many products as they could.

LOS ANGELES – A smash-and-grab robbery at a marijuana dispensary in North Hills didn’t go as planned… as many as 10 suspects were seen fleeing from the scene.

The robbery occurred Friday around 2 a.m. in the 16700 block of Schoenborn Street.

Police say at least 10 suspects smashed the glass window and made entry into the dispensary, grabbing five plastic bins full of cannabis.

Once police arrived on scene, the suspects got into two vehicles and fled the scene in different directions. However, two suspects were arrested at the dispensary.

One vehicle was spotted on the 405 freeway. Police say at one point the vehicle pulled over and dumped a bag, believed to be filled with stolen items, on the freeway.

The other vehicle led police to South LA. During the police chase, the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed. They fled from the scene again but were quickly arrested.

In total, four people were arrested; one

Schenectady CBD shop hopes to become cannabis dispensary – The Daily Gazette

SCHENECTADY — Barbara Vaughn had just turned 60 when her life changed.

It was 2010 and the Kingston resident was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a neurological disorder that causes inflammation around the spinal cord, disrupts nerve signals and, in some cases, can lead to paralysis.

Vaughn had three bouts with the disease that left her unable to walk at one point. She was able to regain use of her extremities — she attributes that to years of bodybuilding — but has been left with a “burning” nerve pain from her midsection down.

“I do take a nerve medication for pain, but it does not take the pain away,” said Vaughn, now 74.

The diagnosis “completely changed” Vaughn’s life and forced her to cease operating the lighting store she operated for decades.

Eventually, she began using medical marijuana to help alleviate her symptoms and then turned to cannabinoids — more commonly referred to as CBD — for relief. Vaughn said the CBD-infused sprays, gummies and ointments she rubs on the soles of her feet have become part of her daily pain-management routine.

“It’s a very important part of my regimen to be well,” she said.

After spending years talking up the benefits of CBD to her friends and

Dispensary Marijuana Bust in La Porte County – Hometown News Now

(La Porte County, IN) – Another arrest has been made for having a large quantity of marijuana purchased legally in Michigan in La Porte County.

La Porte County Police said a sheriff’s deputy was monitoring traffic last night along Indiana 39 just south of the Michigan state line when he noticed a passing vehicle had a dim license plate light.

The light was not strong enough to allow the plate to be seen from a distance of at least 50 feet, which is against state law, police said.

Eventually, police said the officer caught up to the speeding vehicle, which was pulled over in a gas station parking lot at Indiana 39 and U.S. 20.

While speaking to the driver, police said the officer detected an odor of marijuana along with some type of air freshener or cologne.

Police said marijuana in leafy form and in gummies and wax were found in a white bag covered by a sweater in the back seat of the vehicle.

According to police, the marijuana products were purchased at URB, a recently opened dispensary along Michigan 239 and Interstate 94 in New Buffalo Township.

The purchase price was $564.00

The driver, Richard Main, 40,

DEA’s Post on the Start of Black History Month

As America celebrates and commemorates Black History Month, it’s important to remember exactly how Black Americans have been disproportionately impacted by the criminal justice system in our country. From the crack vs. cocaine sentencing disparities to the fact that Black Americans are on average four times as likely to be wrongfully convicted of a serious crime based on statistics provided by the Innocence Project and the many ways that cannabis prohibition has directly damaged and devastated Black communities, these punishments and subsequent penalties have ranged from unjust to clearly unconstitutional.

Besides the countless examples of unjust and unnecessary sentencing and policing practices that unfairly targeted Black communities across generations, the longest lasting impact of President Richard Nixon’s trillion-dollar and multi-decade failure was the creation of the Drug Enforcement Agency. Formed in 1973 and serving as the successor to the equally as unnecessarily authoritarian Federal Bureau of Narcotics which itself was founded by the most notorious yet influential prohibitionist of them all, Harry Anslinger, the DEA was the enforcement arm of the endless draconian policies of the Drug War that only increased in severity as both Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton took office. Worse even, both George H.W. Bush and his
