PARMA, Ohio — Interest remains high in potentially opening a marijuana dispensary in Parma.
Recently the board of zoning appeals and city council approved four of the seven applications that next await word from the state, which is currently deciding its second round of marijuana business locations.
“Part of the application for dispensaries is a form that we have to sign off on saying yes, this applicant has the proper zoning at the city level to be able to operate a dispensary,” Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter said
“We had three applications in Ward 2, one in Ward 1, one in Ward 5, one in Ward 8 and one in Ward 4. As a matter of policy, the mayor’s office is always on the same page with ward council whether there is support for a use variance moving forward.”
The applications approved could potentially find a dispensary located at either 6891 Ridge Road, 6900 Ridge Road, 5370 Pearl Road or 5515 Pearl Road.
“Just because we gave four use variances doesn’t mean we’ll get four dispensaries,” DeGeeter said. “There are only going to be eight in our region.
