The fourth marijuana dispensary planned in Aurora is home grown.

All three principals running the planned AuraLight dispensary at 1350 N. Orchard Road grew up in Aurora, and said they have patiently awaited their chance to get their dispensary going.

“Aurora is an extremely diverse community,” said Blake Salesky, a West Aurora High School graduate who is Auralight’s chief marketing officer. “And we’re proud to come from here.”

The principals – in addition to Salesky there is Linda Wirth, the chief operating officer and an East Aurora alum, and Spencer Thomas, assistant chief officer and a West Aurora grad – were awarded a conditional adult use dispensing license by the state of Illinois as a social equity applicant.

Their company is Fly Society Group of Aurora, LLC, doing business as AuraLight, which is an amalgam of Aurora being known as the City of Lights.

The Aurora City Council on Tuesday approved a conditional use for the property, which will allow the Tito Group, LLC to build a 5,053-square-foot building for AuraLight on land that was first planned in May 2000, next to the Home Depot on Orchard Road. Eventually, the building could be expanded to 8,500 square feet.
