Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs buying Worcester’s Sunnyside dispensary, several others –

Sunnyside’s Worcester location is now one of several dispensaries now under the ownership of rapper and businessman Sean “Diddy” Combs, it was announced Friday.

It will be one of three cannabis businesses he’s purchasing in Central Massachusetts, along with 12 marijuana dispensaries and production facilities in the rest of the commonwealth, New York and Illinois, according to a Business Wire press release. The total purchase made through the Combs’ Los Angeles-based Combs Enterprises will be $185 million, making it his first investment in the cannabis business.

Sunnyside in Worcester is one of several Sunnyside locations acquired in the purchase, all owned by Cresco Labs, creating what the release described as the “largest Black-owned cannabis company in the world.” The purchase also includes buying Patriot Care, a Columbia Care-owned dispensary in New York City.

“This industry-changing transaction is rooted in Cresco’s vision to develop the most responsible, respectable and robust industry possible, and advances Combs’ mission to open new doors in emerging industries for Black entrepreneurs and other diverse founders who are underrepresented and underserved,” Business Wire’s statement read.
