HOT SPRINGS — Green Springs Medical of Hot Springs has become the state’s first medical marijuana dispensary to have its license revoked.
The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division made the announcement Thursday, less than two weeks before the fifth anniversary of the Seneca Street location becoming the second of 38 dispensaries to open statewide. It’s the only one licensed inside Hot Springs city limits.
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Division said its unprecedented action was the result of ongoing violations, including the sale of 1,800 expired products revealed during an undercover operation in October. According to the news release, Green Springs had been given a verbal warning before the undercover purchase.
It said previous violations included failing to maintain clean and sanitary processing areas and biannual inventory information. The revocation can be appealed to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
The filing of an appeal would immediately suspend the revocation.
“When a dispensary ignores warnings, violations and guidance offered by ABC, the only remaining option is revocation,” division Director Christy Bjornson said in the release. “We anticipate an appeal and look forward to presenting our case to the board.”
The sale of expired products is the latest in a string of violations for which Green Springs has been
