Another big hurdle has been cleared for a potential pot dispensary to open in Peru.
The state on Friday issued a “conditional” dispensary license for adult use cannabis to Kana Grove North, LLC. They received a permit back in January from the Peru City Council to open a cannabis dispensary inside the old Jimmy John’s location on East 38th Street. The pot developer now has 180 days to get proper zoning documents in order, submit a floor plan, set up an escrow account or security bond, schedule a final inspection and pay the $60,000 fee for an adult cannabis dispensary license.
Kana Grove officials have said they will remodel the inside and outside of the old Jimmy John’s and add more parking. Peru’s engineer has said the new pot dispensary shouldn’t cause any additional traffic issues despite Wendy’s, Big Lots, Goodwill and Rural King just feet away.
