Weed mogul – owner of Lemoore dispensary, lounge – pleads guilty in Federal bribery probe – The San Joaquin Valley Sun

Prosecutors charged marijuana mogul Helios Dayspring with paying thousands of dollars in bribes to late San Luis Obispo Supervisor Adam Hill for favorable votes on his cannabis business interests.

Dayspring owns Natural Healing Center – a cannabis retail shop with locations in Lemoore, Grover Beach, Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. His company expanded its Lemoore operations to include an on-premises consumption lounge.

Wednesday, at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles, 35-year-old Dayspring pled guilty to a pair of felonies – one count of bribery and another count of filing a false 2018 income tax return and deliberately failed to report millions in income to the IRS.

As part of the plea agreement, Dayspring agreed to pay $3.4 million in tax restitution and cooperate with an on-going Federal investigation.

Federal prosecutors alleged that Dayspring began paying bribes to Hill from 2016 through 2019.

Last March, FBI agents raided Dayspring’s San Luis Obispo home as well as Adam Hill’s home and Supervisorial office.

In total, Dayspring coughed up $32,000 in cash and money order bribes to Hill, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

In exchange for the cash payments, Hill voted favorably on ordinances
