West Palm Beach commissioners passed a measure on Monday that bans any more medical marijuana dispensaries from opening in the city.In downtown West Palm Beach, four medical marijuana shops currently sell their products to people with state-issued prescription cards.Four more are in other parts of the city, and according to the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority, Raphael Clemente, more were clamoring to open up.”It doesn’t add to the vibrancy of the place and when it was one or two I don’t think we were worried about that, but when we had three, four and others lining up to get here, that’s when the concern was raised,” said Clemente.State law prohibits dispensaries from displaying their products visibly through the windows, so many shops keep their windows covered, customers often enter through the back, and some order online, so for a downtown looking for a hustle vibe the closed-up looking shops aren’t ideal.Clemente wrote the city commission which took up the concerns in February with a work meeting and what was first proposed as a limit just for downtown was expanded to include the rest of the city as well. The eight shops already operating can stay, but no more
