West Palm says it doesn’t want any new medical marijuana … – Palm Beach Post

Nine is enough for West Palm Beach.

The West Palm Beach City Commission voted 4-1 this week to ban new medical marijuana dispensaries while grandfathering in the nine establishments already in business.

The vote comes two weeks after commissioners considered a proposal that, in its initial form, would have barred medical marijuana dispensaries in the downtown area, which has become dotted with the establishments in the seven years since Florida voters amended the state constitution to make medical marijuana legal in the Sunshine State.

Because the ordinance commissioners approved Monday is different from the one they considered in June, a ban can’t go into effect until after another vote is held. That vote is scheduled for July 10.
