When Will Missouri Dispensaries Open in 2020?

It’s been a year and a half since Missouri residents passed Amendment 2 officially establishing a medical marijuana program in the state. And for a year and a half medical marijuana patients have been asking, “when are dispensaries going to open in Missouri.” Well, it looks like we finally have our answer, “late July, early August.”

Ever since Amendment 2 passed in Missouri more than a year and a half ago, potential medical cannabis patients in the state have been anxiously awaiting word on when they’ll be able to walk into a Missouri medical marijuana dispensary and purchase their medicine.

We finally have an answer. Sort of. The launch of medical marijuana dispensaries has now been pushed up from early 2020 to sometime mid-summer 2020.

So, what’s the hold-up? Medical marijuana has been legal in Missouri since New Year’s Day.

In late April Governor Mike Parson’s held a news briefing on the topic of the COVID-19 crisis. At the event, Dr. Randall W. Williams, director of Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services was asked about the medical marijuana launch date.
