YPSILANTI, MI — An Ypsilanti marijuana dispensary opening this week is the first Class A microbusiness in Washtenaw County and the second in Michigan.

Planet Jane, 815 N. Huron St., is hosting its soft opening on Friday, Aug. 5.

A typical microbusiness license allows facilities to grow, process and sell their own product, while the Class A version allows businesses to sell infused products from other growers, as well as grow and sell their own product.

In addition to the 13 strains grown by Planet Jane, the dispensary will also sell infused products from retailers like Jeeter and Caviar Gold. The microbusiness’ own strains will be available in mid-September and will be the “main course” of the business, said Moe Kasham, who owns the shop with cousin Amir Kasham.

Available strains include Citradelic Sunset, Garlic Storm, Platinum Jelly and Sugar Cane.

The Class A version of the microbusiness license has been a boon to those interested in launching a microbusiness, the co-owners said. Because the license allows dispensaries to sell products they did not grow, dispensaries now have more leeway if a cannabis crop is bad or takes longer to replenish.
