Zoning panel to consider pot dispensary locations, dance studio – Danville Commercial News

DANVILLE — The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday will consider allowing future medicinal/adult-use cannabis dispensaries potentially in more city locations.

The commission meets at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at city hall, 17 W. Main St.

The proposed changes to Danville’s zoning ordinance would allow dispensaries, now all in the Lynch Road area, in business districts along the city’s other main thoroughfares.

Proposed zoning ordinance changes: adding the language “Provided measurement regulations listed throughout shall be interpreted as a distance from the nearest part of one property line to the other property line as measured in a straight line;” removing the 2,640 feet distance, half mile, requirement from residential zoned properties; and adding special-use permit requirements for medicinal/adult-use cannabis transportation organization in B-2 highway business zoning, and in I-1 light industrial zoning for adult-use cannabis craft grower, adult-use cannabis infuser, adult-use cannabis processor, and medicinal/adult-use cannabis cultivation center.

The latest cannabis license holder looking for a location in the city, MariWorks, LLC of Chicago, had pulled its special-use permit request before the Danville City Council in June to operate an adult-use cannabis dispensary at 500 Eastgate Drive, on the south side of Danville Metal Stamping.
