Start date set for marijuana dispensary on Western NC reservation – WSOC Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — A growing business has set its start date in North Carolina.

The first marijuana dispensary in the state will be opening its doors in just over a month, according to our partners at the Charlotte Observer.

The Eastern Band of Cherokee will debut the dispensary in Western North Carolina on April 20, also known as April 20.

The tribe overwhelmingly approved the adult use of marijuana on tribal land in a vote in the fall of 2023, and expectations are high.

Members of the tribe transformed an old bingo hall into what they are saying is the world’s largest marijuana dispensary.

Staff there told Channel 9 that the facility could employ up to 400 people and sell nearly 350 different products.

Two new cannabis dispensaries open, bringing Fresno to six pot shops. Are any near you? – AOL

Joshua TeheeJanuary 17, 2024 at 8:30 AM

Culture Cannabis Club had a good run in 2023.

The marijuana dispensary chain expanded its reach across the country, but mostly in California, where it opened five new stores, including one in Porterville.

The company continued that expansion into the new year, opening two more dispensaries over the first weeks of 2024.

Both are in Fresno.

The shops — on Bullard Avenue at Highway 41 and at Maple and Jensen avenues — are currently in a soft-opening phase.

Grand opening celebrations are planned for sometime in February.

“We were interested in pursuing Fresno for a long time,” CEO Devon Julian says. “It’s great to be part of such a big metropolitan area.”

“We’ve been really happy with the partnership,” which includes local owners Barigye McCoy and Jas Kahlon.

McCoy is a native. He grew up in Fresno and graduated from Edison High School. His background is in retail development, but he’s been an advocate for legalized marijuana since California passed SB 420 in 2003.

Along with ownership in the Fresno stores, he’s the Chief of Communications for Culture Cannabis Club.

Kahlon’s family owns several gas stations in Fresno and recently started the Fresno-based cannabis brand Cavalier Private Reserve as a Culture Cannabis Club

Dispensary on Mission Street approved by Planning Commission – Santa Cruz Sentinel

SANTA CRUZ — A cannabis dispensary specializing in providing medical marijuana to patients with serious diseases will be allowed to do business in the city of Santa Cruz after the Planning Commission approved its application this week.

At the meeting Thursday evening, which ran into the night, the Santa Cruz Planning Commission listened to heated arguments for and against the proposed use of the former Emily’s Bakery at 1129 Mission St. in Santa Cruz as a cannabis dispensary.

The prospect was highly contested by Santa Cruz City Schools Superintendent Kris Munro alongside other community members, who felt that allowing the dispensary to operate relatively close to Santa Cruz High School and Mission Hill Middle School would lead to increased cannabis use among students.

According to state law, a cannabis retail establishment must be at least 600 feet away from a school and in the fall of 2017, the Santa Cruz City Council adopted an ordinance establishing and reiterating the 600-foot buffer from schools and also capped the total number of cannabis dispensaries allowed in the city to five. There are currently four dispensaries in the city of Santa Cruz.

Cannabis dispensaries in the city are also required to be 600 feet

Theory Wellness, Rebelle Dispensary threatening to sue Great Barrington over Host Community Agreements, wants … – theberkshireedge.com

Great Barrington — The Selectboard is scheduled to hold an executive session at the beginning of its meeting on Monday, March 11, at 5 p.m.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the executive session is scheduled with respect to litigation threatened against the town concerning Host Community Agreements for marijuana establishments Theory Wellness and Community Growth Partners, which owns Rebelle dispensary.

Thomas Winstanley, chief marketing officer for Theory Wellness, forwarded a letter to The Berkshire Edge sent to the town by David Rich, an attorney with Todd & Weld LLP of Boston and is the legal counsel for both companies.

In the letter, which was sent to Town Manager Mark Pruhenski on February 27, Rich wrote that Theory Wellness signed its Host Community Agreement with the town on October 17, 2016, and another one on June 18, 2018. Community Growth Partners signed its Host Community Agreement with the town on March 20, 2019.

“During the term of the parties’ respective HCA, both Theory Wellness and CGP have been forced to tender to the town millions of dollars in unlawful Community Impact Fees, legal fees and additional costs, payments, and reimbursements,” Rich wrote. “It further appears that the town is unjustifiably refusing

MedMen shutters all but 2 dispensaries in California – Green Market Report

Embattled multistate operator MedMen Enterprises (CSE: MMEN) (OTCQX: MMNFF) appears to be on its last legs, with the company reportedly having shuttered all but two of its remaining dispensaries in its home state of California on Thursday.

Although no one connected with MedMen’s corporate headquarters could be reached for comment, the chain had a small fire sale to unload product this past week prior to closing down, according to a former staffer at the company’s shop on Abbott Kinney Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Former MedMen hospitality associate Jay Johnson, who worked at the Abbott Kinney location for roughly six years until he was laid off in February, said he learned of the closures on Thursday morning from a former colleague.

“The ops manager … he’s the one who texted me yesterday morning to say that they were going to close all of the California stores at the end of the day yesterday,” Johnson told Green Market Report.

Johnson said that he heard through the grapevine, however, that MedMen locations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and in the Torrey Pines neighborhood of San Diego would remain open. Budtenders at those MedMen shops answered the phone Friday and confirmed the two stores

First marijuana dispensary opens in West Springfield – Western Massachusetts News

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – The first marijuana retailer opened in West Springfield on Friday after many years of pushback from people in town.

“I’m feeling great. It’s been such a long trip and it’s very rewarding to finally get to this point,” said Thomas Keenan, CEO and co-owner of Cannabis Connection.

It was a monumental day in West Springfield as Cannabis Connection, the town’s first retail marijuana shop, opened for business on Friday. Keenan told us that it was a long process to get them to this day. He has been working to bring this dispensary to life since 2018 when recreational marijuana sales first started in Massachusetts, but the West Springfield city council didn’t approve adult-use sales until 2022. So far, he said community response has been welcoming.

“The community has been accepting and great so far. I think the city, the government is appreciative of the fact we’re putting a lot of money into this and bringing a lot of jobs to West Springfield, and we’ll be bringing some tax revenue as well,” Keenan added.

Among those in attendance for the grand opening was West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt, who has pushed for allowing the retail sales of marijuana from the beginning due to
