New Marijuana Dispensaries Open In Western New York – WBLK

It’s been a little more than a year and a half since New York State enacted the Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act that officially allowed adults to use cannabis and marijuana-related products recreationally in the Empire State.

The passage of the cannabis law created a pathway for businesses to begin legally selling marijuana and for adults to begin legally using the product. However, the last two years have been slow for companies trying to obtain an Adult-Use Retail Dispensary License or a Medical Dispensary License from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.

That lack of progress has caused a fair bit of strife and numerous complaints and lawsuits for many people trying to become licensed.

However, things are moving slowly. There are at least two new businesses in New York State that are happy to have been granted a license and are now open.

Cannabis Licenses Granted To Two Western New York Dispensaries

Earlier in December, New York State announced that 13 new dispensaries have either recently opened or will open very soon, increasing the number of adult-use dispensaries opened this year to almost 40.

Of the 13 new dispensaries that have opened, two of them are in Western New York:

Premier Earth Corp, located at 1297

New Cannabis Dispensary Opens In Burlington County – Patch

MARLTON, NJ — Highway 90 became Marlton’s first cannabis retailer, holding a soft opening last weekend.

Although larger corporations dominated the early stages of New Jersey’s legal-weed era, Highway 90 has local ties. Owner Alex Lahn’s family’s company owns The Legacy Club golf course in Cherry Hill and The Funplex amusement complex in Mount Laurel, according to 70and73.com.

Highway 90’s website says the following:

“Highway 90 was founded by individuals who have years of experience in hospitality and legalized cannabis. We are nationally minded but locally owned.”

The dispensary is located at 90 Old Marlton Pike W.

Brooklyn’s first legal recreational weed dispensary finally opened in Gravesend on Tuesday, nearly three years after recreational marijuana was first legalized in New York State.

Grow Together, located at 2370 Coney Island Ave. near Avenue U, is owned by Christopher Ledlum and Steven Sapoznik, who the state’s Office of Cannabis Management described as “an experienced local entrepreneur and justice-involved individual.” The shop is New York state’s 36th legal adult-use marijuana dispensary – but the first in Brooklyn, as back-t0-back lawsuits dragged out license approvals in the borough.

“At Grow Together, we are more than just a dispensary,” reads the shop’s website. “We are a community hub dedicated to promoting wellness, education, and empowerment. Located in the heart of Brooklyn, our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space where individuals can access high-quality cannabis products, explore their well-being, and connect with like-minded individuals.”

According to Grow Together’s site, the shop offers marijuana flower, pre-rolls, edibles, and potent oils

Grow Together, Brooklyn’s first legal dispensary, is now open – News 12 Bronx

Dec 19, 2023, 10:53amUpdated 8h ago

The first ever recreational dispensary in Brooklyn opened its doors to customers Tuesday.

Grow Together on Coney Island Avenue, New York’s 36th conditional adult use dispensary in the state and the first in the borough, held a news conference at 11 a.m. with the shop opening to customers shortly after.

“We set out a long time ago to free the plant from Buffalo to Brooklyn to make sure that anybody who was impacted by prohibition had an opportunity,” said Chris Alexander, executive director the New York State Office of Cannabis Management.

The Black-owned business was founded by local entrepreneur Christopher Ledlum and justice-involved individual Steven Sapoznik.

“The fact that now we can pay taxes and do it legitimately, it’s just, it’s the way it should be,” said Sapoznik. “A safe place where people are comfortable to work, comfortable to come in, comfortable to come and spend their money.”

The dispensary offers wide variety of regulated products, including edibles, vapes, and their very own locally-grown cannabis.

According to the state, the licensed dispensary will give card holders access to safe cannabis products that meet the state’s rigorous standards.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced today the opening of twelve new adult-use cannabis dispensaries, marking a significant milestone in the state’s commitment to fostering a representative and inclusive cannabis market. The expansion brings the total number of adult-use dispensaries in New York to at least 37 by the end of December, showcasing the state’s dedication to providing safer and licensed cannabis products to its residents.

Among the newly unveiled dispensaries, eight are majority Black-owned, five are Hispanic-owned, and nine are women-owned, highlighting New York’s pioneering efforts to create a diverse and inclusive industry. Recent industry research indicates that less than 0.2 percent of all national dispensaries are Black-owned, while New York boasts over 20 percent of adult-use dispensaries being majority Black-owned.

“As New York expands the most equitable cannabis market in the nation, my administration remains committed to building a safe industry for all New Yorkers that will grow our small business community,” Governor Hochul said. “These new dispensaries continue our mission of strengthening our legal market while at the same time helping to push out the bad actors who skirt our

Brooklyns First Full-Time Legal Dispensary Opens In Gravesend – Patch

GRAVESEND, NY — Brooklyn’s first recreational cannabis dispensary is here… well, legally at least.

The borough’s first permanent legal recreational dispensary opened in Gravesend Tuesday afternoon — a soon-to-be hot spot “whether you are a seasoned cannabis enthusiast or new to the world of cannabis,” said the store’s owners on its website.

Grow Together, which sits on Coney Island Avenue between Avenue T and Avenue U, marks the 36th recreational dispensary to open in New York City, and it opened just a couple of days after new Soho dispensary Dagmar.

And while Grow Together is the first legal spot to stay put in Brooklyn, it’s not exactly the borough’s first taste of licensed bud. A pop-up of Queens’ first legal recreational dispensary, Good Grades, opened in Flatbush in October and schooled locals on all things weed, music, art and culture.

But Grow Together will stick around, helmed by Christopher Ledlum and Steven Sapoznik, an “experienced local entrepreneur and justice-involved individual,” according to the state’s Office of Cannabis Management.

The weed-haven’s aspirations go far beyond just getting locals high.

“At Grow Together, we are more than just a dispensary – we are a community hub dedicated to promoting wellness, education, and

Thriving dispensary focuses on wellness – The Vermont Journal & The Shopper – Vermont Journal

Green Mountain Cannabis Works. Photo by Danielle Goodwin

MANCHESTER, Vt. – Green Mountain Cannabis Works, a business that opened in Manchester, Vt., in the fall of 2023, is quietly becoming a force in the Manchester retail scene. This is not by accident – spearheaded by a founder with over 30 years in Manchester, Cannabis Works is a culmination of entrepreneurial woman-owned ingenuity with a new flair in the cannabis culture in Vermont.

Upon entering you are greeted by a friendly, unassuming greeter, and then you will pass educational back stories on the wall about the entire cannabis experience, a cozy living room scene, and finally meet master budtender Tanner Conley of Shaftsbury, Vt. Tanner is the type of person that is eager, unapologetically prepared for any questions, and most importantly ready to educate on all the wellness aspects that cannabis may offer the consumer. Conley professed that this is his “dream job,” and that he spends hours at home researching and understanding his craft, in hopes that he will make the customer more at ease, and give them an environment to ask questions and spark a dialogue.

Admittedly, this author has never tried cannabis, however, Tanner does make a good
