Dispensaries Donate Thousands of Free Turkeys for Thanksgiving – High Times

Dispensaries are doing their part to help others to feel the true spirit of thankfulness this Thanksgiving with a round of free turkeys. In recent years, Green Wednesday, which falls on the day before Thanksgiving, has become the cannabis industry’s second-highest grossing day of sales, and a big day for promotional giveaways. Like last year, many cannabis companies are joining the holiday spirit and running their own turkey drives with free turkeys for people in need.

Thanksgiving is a holiday people in the New World have celebrated since 1621, with a feast, and dispensaries can help if you can’t afford it this year. High Times found a handful of dispensaries that are participating in turkey drives this year.

Puff Cannabis Company plans to give away hundreds of free turkeys this week. The Madison Heights, Michigan-based dispensary chain’s second annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway starts today and runs through Friday at Puff stores throughout the tri-county area.

Puff Cannabis founder Justin Elias said they plan to hand out over 2,500 turkeys to people in need—twice the amount of free turkeys distributed last year. “The goal of Puff Cannabis Company from the beginning has been to offer top- notch cannabis products while building

South Dakota College Proposes Cannabis Education Requirement – Inside Higher Ed

A South Dakota college wants to support the state’s emerging, but controversial, medical marijuana industry by creating an education program for dispensary workers.

Benjamin Valdez, vice president of academic affairs at Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls, presented the preliminary idea to the state legislature’s Medical Marijuana Oversight Committee earlier this month. The proposed semester-long certificate curriculum would include courses on medical marijuana laws, pharmacology, ethics, compliance in dispensing and a capstone where students would demonstrate their knowledge in an industry setting.

“If we are to ensure the safety of citizens of South Dakota and of this narcotic as it is being dispensed in the form of medication, we are advocating that we look at some form of education for these individuals,” Valdez told the committee.

Although 38 states and the District of Columbia have medical marijuana programs, Valdez said that as far as he knows South Dakota would be the only state to require formal education for dispensary workers if it moved forward with the proposal. Currently, the state’s administrative rules require all dispensary employees to receive training on record-keeping, safety and security protocols, but do not specify any further

New-to-Orlando dispensary Insa Cannabis offers gourmet-style … – Orlando Weekly

The holiday season is nigh, and many Floridian medical cannabis cardholders (like myself) are turning to edibles as a discreet method of staying medicated while gathering with family and friends. Unfortunately, many of the edibles available in Orlando dispensaries taste like dollar-store candies doused in bongwater. If you care as much about your tastebuds as you do about THC levels, you may want to take a look at Insa Cannabis, a relative newcomer to the local market whose gourmet-style products — based on complimentary review samples provided to me — have more in common with fine European confections than the stereotypical stoner spacecake.

That level of quality is largely attributable to the efforts of Julian Rose, Insa’s head chef and director of R&D, who recently answered some questions via Zoom from his headquarters in Massachusetts.

A native of Quebec, he grew up in his family’s pastry shop (“born on a bag of flour,” as he jokes) and studied to be a high-end chocolatier, rising to become a global representative of a major chocolate supplier. A consulting job on the West Coast connected him with that region’s then-nascent legal cannabis industry, which eventually led him to

Council votes against stricter cannabis dispensary regulations in Prince George’s County – FOX 5 DC

Council votes against stricter cannabis dispensary regulations in Prince George’s County

A bill seeking stricter laws for cannabis dispensaries in Prince George’s County failed Tuesday, and some are celebrating. FOX 5’s Nana-Sentuo Bonsu has the story.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. – A bill seeking stricter laws for cannabis dispensaries in Prince George’s County failed Tuesday, and some are celebrating.

If the Prince George’s County Council passed the bill, a prospective cannabis owner would not be able to open up in a shopping center or near schools or day care centers.

Hope Wiseman, founder of Mary & Main in Capitol Heights, told FOX 5 Wednesday, “We are really excited to hear that the council has chosen opportunity over fear.”

The council spent the last several months discussing if and how to regulate cannabis dispensaries. On Wednesday, the motion failed in a vote of 5-1-2.

The bill was introduced by Councilmember Krystal Oriadha.

“The goal would be to keep them away from shopping centers where we constantly are seeing three to four tobacco stores, liquor stores and carryout,” Oriadha said. “It was disappointing because we had members who abstained, who did not intentionally show up for

Tracking device in stolen marijuana container leads East Bay police to arrest two suspected of robbing dispensary driver – East Bay Times

HERCULES — A man and woman suspected in the robbery of a cannabis dispensary in Modesto were tracked with a device inside a stolen marijuana container, and eventually arrested by Hercules police officers on Sunday, authorities said.

Officers found a handgun, a knife, a ski mask and several bags of marijuana bearing the name of the Modesto dispensary and the stolen tracking device when they made the arrest, police said.

One of the suspects was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a gun and being a felon in possession of ammunition, police said. Both were arrested on suspicion of possessing a gun with prior drug convictions; possession of a gun with prior convictions of crimes against persons; possession of a concealed gun in a vehicle; and possession of a counterfeit driver’s license, police said.

Authorities did not say what charges the pair might face in Modesto.

Hercules officers were called Sunday about 8:15 p.m. to a Chase bank in the 4000 block of San Pablo Avenue for a report of an armed robbery suspect from an incident in another jurisdiction that was parked in front of the bank.

According to police, the reporting party told them

Worcester Co. marijuana dispensaries new rules following emergency bill – 47abc – WMDT

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Cannabis dispensaries are now getting some new rules in Worcester County.

As of today, an emergency bill went into effect. New dispensaries coming into the area will have to be mindful of their location before setting up shop. 47 ABC spoke with Jennifer Keener, Director of Development Review and Permitting for the county who says the state allows the county to make further legislation.

County commissioners wanted to take that a step further by protecting surrounding establishments within the vicinity of said dispensary. “The commissioners wanted to go further and set the 2,000 feet, especially limits the location these dispensaries can be located in. The separation distances from pre-existing schools, daycare facilities, parks, libraries, and other dispensaries,” said Keener.

The bill also prohibited on-site consumption. For all the details of the bill, you can visit Worcester County’s website.

Niles cannabis dispensary prioritizes worker safety amidst growing industry health concerns – WSBT-TV

The legal cannabis industry facing a growing concern. It comes after the death of a cannabis worker in early last year.

Officials confirmed recently she suffered a fatal asthma attack stemming from her work.

Worker’s health is a growing concern as the number of states with legal marijuana continues to increase.

One local dispensary showing me how they’re trying to keep employees safe.

The death of the Massachusetts cannabis worker sounding alarms throughout the industry.

But for Green Stem provisioning in Niles, their staff say the safety of employees is beyond a top priority.

“A lot of what we learned from Massachusetts is the concern of asthma or the allergic reactions to the cannabis, and when that becomes airborne, that can become quite a bit of an issue, so when we constructed our building back in 2020, when we originally started all of our buildout here in manufacturing at sticky mitten, we were able to get to a point where the ventilation was unbelievably important, says Katie Lynch Lindgren, Green Stem brand director.

In addition to an emphasis on ventilation, safety equipment immediately greets anyone who walks into the growhouse.

“We are providing our staff, as well as visitors to our facility access to all the P-P-E
