Burlington cannabis shop owner highlights the local market – Local 22/44 News

Burlington, VT– As cannabis continues to be woven into the fabric of Vermont’s agriculture and consumer markets, one dispensary owner in the Queen City is sharing his efforts to keep the local cannabis culture alive.

Josh Decatur is the owner of Heybud, a Burlington-based dispensary. He says his company aims to take a community approach to everything it does.

Located on Maple Street, the shop offers a selection of cannabis products made by local farmers. For Decatur, it has always been a dream to get into the cannabis industry, and being a Vermont native, he says he has strong feelings about the culture of cannabis in the Green Mountain State.

“We really see this dispensary as hopefully becoming more and more of a community dispensary,” Decatur says. “We’re still a very small business but we’re trying to create an economy around cannabis here in the state that really supports farmers.”

One way the shop is doing this is by hosting what Decatur calls a “monthly cannabis farmers market,” which he says is the first event of its kind on the regulated market. Similar to a ‘vendor day,’ the event is an opportunity for small, local producers to not only get

Vancouver cannabis dispensary offers same-day delivery – Richmond News

The numbers are impressive.

According to the Government of Canada’s most recent survey, more than 25% of Canadians used cannabis for non-medicinal purposes in 2023. That’s over 10 million people.

Meanwhile, Vancouver ranks fifth among Canadian cities that have the most legal recreational cannabis dispensaries — 78 at last count.

Yet while these numbers are good news for cannabis consumers —  both experienced and new — they can also be overwhelming. Which dispensaries are best for price, selection and employee expertise?

Since the opening of its first location in February 2020, La Canapa has strived to provide the best cannabis shopping experience in Vancouver. And its reputation has grown quickly. Today, it offers three locations in Vancouver (Dunbar, Mount Pleasant and Marpole), plus same-day delivery throughout the city as well as to Richmond (including the vicinity of YVR).

Caring, knowledgeable employees

It can be difficult for a consumer — especially someone exploring cannabis for the first time — to navigate the hundreds of products now available in legal dispensaries.

“Several factors set La Canapa apart from its competitors,” says Janice Lam, regional manager. “We train our staff to be very knowledgeable. So, no matter if you’re a long-time customer or

St. Joseph bans cannabis dispensaries until 2025 – SC Times

Special to the St. Cloud Times

ST. JOSEPH — St. Joseph won’t be seeing a dispensary open up anytime soon. Uncertainty behind the state’s direction with cannabis business licenses led City Council to unanimously approve banning dispensaries until 2025.

“We don’t want to begin allowing (dispensaries) within St. Joseph — guide them through the infancy of their business, establish safe regulations and (watch these) businesses expend capital — only to have the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management iron out prospective rules, laws and guidelines that could effectively shutter or greatly hinder a business’ operations,” Councilmember Adam Scepaniak told the St. Cloud Times.

The early April decision also gives city staff time to further study the cannabis industry and its impact on the community. St. Joseph’s ban is set to end on Jan. 1 when the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management is expected to roll out its new licensing process. The state tasked the OCM to oversee this process when it legalized recreational cannabis use last year.

Missouri Revokes Nine Social Equity Licenses

Table of Contents

The need for social equity in cannabis programs

As adult-use cannabis legalization sweeps across the country and America confronts the toll of previous, draconian cannabis policies, one of the best attempts to right abject wrongs is social equity programs within state cannabis industries. Unfortunately though, social equity programs are easily exploited and “loopholed.” Licenses have even been discreetly purchased by multi-state operators (MSOs) in some cases, or other entities that should not qualify as social equity applicants. Regulators are getting wise. One such example is Missouri, where concerns have been raised about the authenticity of social equity applications, leading to the revocation of several licenses. This highlights the need for robust oversight and accountability to ensure that social equity programs fulfill their intended purpose of fostering diversity and economic empowerment within the cannabis industry.

Missouri’s social equity initiatives: a closer look

One example of a state regulatory agency having to revoke a considerable number of social equity licenses is Missouri, one of the newest states to legalize cannabis. Based on sales figures, the Missouri cannabis industry has already become a raging success, selling over $1.4 billion in the first year. Moreover, the Missouri Department of
