A 2nd dispensary could be coming to Meridian Township – WILX

Meridian Township, Mich. (WILX) – We told you about the proposed dispensary at Okemos and Jolly Roads about two weeks ago. Meridian Township residents were unhappy with the placement saying it wasn’t a good look for the township. At Tuesday’s meeting, more residents shared those same concerns, but after they did, they left… Just before the Township Board accepted another application for a new recreational marijuana retailer on Grand River Avenue.

Residents shared their opposition to the Okemos and Jolly Roads dispensary plan saying, “To me, it’s just a dirty, ugly business and we don’t want it.” Another resident said, “I think that you folks are the stewards of our properties and the health of this community so I would implore you to approve a license but do not approve it the location that is being considered.”

The Township Board doing just that. According to the Meridian Township zoning ordinance, 1 license for recreational marijuana can be granted in each of the Township’s 5 zones. 2 dispensaries applied to be located in zone 3 of the township, the Marsh Rd and Grand River Ave. area. One is DVNK, who is planning to build 2 other projects on the land being applied for.
