Dispensaries celebrate ‘420′ – WCAX

CHITTENDEN COUNTY, Vt. (WCAX) – Saturday, April 20 marks 420 – a day typically full of marijuana and cannabis consumption for those who celebrate.

Vermont lawmakers legalized marijuana consumption for those 21 and older in July 2018. The legislature voted to create a regulated market to open in 2022. Local dispensaries say business has been booming since legalization, and days like 420 help boost sales even more.

“It’s definitely been steady. The morning’s been great. We’d have a lot of pre-orders I mean everybody’s excited you know this a holiday for our culture and community,” Eddie Furci of Winooski Organics said.

To celebrate 420, Furci says they put up a special mural in front of the store.

“It’s really just an ode to the cannabis industry you know finally able to show its feathers and you know come out into the world and away from the light so it’s kind of an ode to that which is awesome,” Eddi Furci said.

Many different dispensaries celebrated 420 in their own unique way. The Bern gallery right in Burlington actually celebrated their 20th anniversary on 420.

“It’s been immediately popping honestly, we love to see it you know things have been kind of perking up in general as

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – In Holyoke, a cannabis dispensary hosted a block party Saturday in recognition of 4/20 and to advocate for the legalization of social consumption sites

In 2016, Massachusetts voters approved a ballot question legalizing recreational marijuana, it also allowed consumption at dispensaries and licensed events. But, it is not currently allowed to consume marijuana in public places. Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia, also an advocate for legal social consumption was at the event.

“I think there’s still more work that needs to be done at the state level, specifically legalizing social consumption,” Mayor Garcia said. “In the City of Holyoke, we want to continue to do what we can to support the industry and cultivate that activity so that we can reap the benefits of what that industry has to offer for our community.”

In 2023 regulators voted down a cannabis café pilot program but the Cannabis Control Commission is currently working on implementing the café sites.

WNY cannabis dispensaries see green as residents celebrate 4/20 – WIVB.com – News 4

BUFFALO N.Y. (WIVB) – Local cannabis dispensaries are seeing a lot of green on Saturday.

April 20 is known as 4/20, an unofficial holiday for those who partake in marijuana. News 4 stopped by Dank 716 on Main Street to see how the business is cashing in as people celebrate.

“We’ve come so far in this business specifically. It’s been very successful, more than we could imagine. It’s been lovely, I’m happy to be here and a part of what’s going on today,” Dank 716 manager Emma Kist said.

The cannabis dispensary opened its doors Saturday to an eager crowd of customers wanting to celebrate 4/20. Dank 716 offered discounts and handed out freebies to shoppers.

“A lot of people are very grateful to be able to shop safe local smart. It’s better than going somewhere where you’re not sure what you’re getting,” Kist said. “Everything is tested. You can scan a QR code and know everything in it, where it was grown and all that, very comforting.”

The cannabis industry is still sprouting, but a year ago Dank 716, or any recreational use dispensary had yet to open. Kist hopes to see more growth by

Holyoke celebrates 4/20 with dispensary promoted block party – Western Massachusetts News

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – In Holyoke, some of the city’s dispensaries hosted events commemorating 4/20, a day recognizing the consumption and use of the marijuana plant.

One such celebration was a joint block party hosted by Canna Provisions and Holyoke Cannabis Dispensary.

Canna Provisions CEO Meg Sanders told us, “Today, you can find tons of quality cannabis all over the store. We have a huge menu, and we have something for everybody.”

Saturday’s event was more than shopping and celebrating, it was an opportunity to discuss cannabis regulation in the Bay State.

We’ve been told Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia was in attendance, talking about how cannabis can continue to be used as a tool for tourism, boosting economic development, and more through social consumption in the city.

A statement was shared with Western Mass News that read in part:

“Onsite cannabis consumption is the missing link for the cannabis industry to have a positive impact on economic development, tourism, and public safety for cities like Holyoke. We need the ability to issue 1-day, onsite consumption permits, similar to 1-day liquor licenses for events, and to have a bricks and mortar, licensed business that is safe and legal for consumers to visit.”

“It’s got a really great The Bronx flavor, the culture,” said ConBud NY CEO and founder Coss Marte. “This is what we’re doing and we’re really doing it right.”

The dispensary is owned by Michael Montas, a Castle Hill resident who was previously incarcerated for cannabis when he was just 14 years old. He hopes to expand access to legal cannabis and give those who were once in his shoes a second to have a better life.

“Being that we went through the arrest and the war on drugs and cannabis, other people deserve another opportunity,” Montas said.

A portion of the sales will be donated to various non-profit organizations in the Bronx.

Cannabis Christmas: Napa dispensary joins 420 celebration – Napa Valley Register

Riley Palmer

Thirty minutes before opening, the 4/20 goodie bags had been prepped. The taco truck was ready to go outside. Inviting reggae music had been turned on, filing the quaintly sized Perfect Union dispensary before the line of cannabis enthusiasts eager to come in. All that was left to do was open the door.

At 8:58 a.m., store manager John Norris’s vibes were high. He stood at the entrance with a focused yet buzzing energy about him.

“It’s cannabis Christmas today,” Norris said. “People are coming in, expecting to get a great deal and get a little extra on top of it.”

Every April 20, stoners across the world get a day to celebrate the marijuana flower. The unofficial holiday is believed to have arisen in 1971 at San Rafael High School, where a group of students nicknamed “The Waldos” began using the term “420” as slang for marijuana.
