Danville City Council greenlights third cannabis dispensary – wcia.com

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Danville has cleared a hurdle to allow a third marijuana dispensary within city limits.

The council voted at their meeting Tuesday night to approve the license for a Special Use Permit for Mariworks LLC, which is planning to open a NuEra-brand dispensary on a plot of farmland off of Southgate Drive.

The dispensary is far from the two existing dispensaries of Sunnyside and Seven Point by I-74. In addition to the dispensary, a Casey’s gas station and quick-service restaurant is in talks to open too.

“We are as far as it is possible to be from any sensitive uses in the city,” Laura Bernal, the COO of NuEra, said. “You couldn’t find a location in the city of Danville that is further away from residential [properties], that is further away from schools, that is further away from churches.”
