Cannabis dispensaries and medical marijuana clinics have become big business. Crystal River has seen an increase in this form of business.

One of the first things that struck City Manager Doug Baber when he came on board in Crystal River was the number of medical marijuana dispensaries he saw as he drove the main corridors of the city. He believes there are enough and that the city doesn’t need further facilities.
“I have no problem with those here,” said Baber, but he is concerned what the impact might be as the city looks towards the future. “We need more diversification.”
