Alton Dispensary to move out of current location – Alton Telegraph

ALTON – The Alton Dispensary, located at 1400 E. Broadway, will possibly be making a move to another part of town.

At the City Council meeting Wednesday night, Dispensary President and CEO Jeremy Wysocki announced that the business is planning to close its current location and move to another.

Back in October, the dispensary terminated its contract with the management company Subsero Alton Ops, LLC. The dispensary, which opened May 17, filed a lawsuit against Subsero for alleged fraud and other misconducts in connection with Subero’s misappropriation of approximately $140,000 in marijuana product, according to Wysocki. Subsero would then sell the stolen product out of a location in Moline, Illinois. In addition, Wysocki said that $1.8 million was stolen out of the company bank account.

After terminating the contract, Wysocki alleged retaliation efforts from the Subsero.

“They retaliated against our staff and against our company by launching a cyber attack, by preventing us from utilizing our point of sales system, they backdoored access into our cameras and were eavesdropping on our employees,” Wysocki said.

Wysocki said that Subsero also allegedly was placing job posts under their (the dispensary’s) name to try and divert people from working with the dispensary.

Etna Township prohibits marijuana growers, dispensaries in Jeff Johnson’s last meeting – The Newark Advocate

Commercial marijuana businesses will not be allowed to operate in Etna Township after a recent vote from the township trustees.

The Etna Township Trustees voted 2-1 Tuesday to prohibit adult-use marijuana cultivators, processors and dispensaries from operating within the township. Trustee Mark Evans voted against the resolution.

Medical marijuana became legal in Ohio in 2016, but Ohio voters just approved the legalization of recreational marijuana for those 21 and older 57-43% in the Nov. 7 general election.

Township Administrator Nita Hanson said during the meeting that the resolution only controls commercial operations.

“It doesn’t have any impact on any personal use. It’s just for the commercial operations related to adult-use cannabis,” she said.

None of the trustees spoke about the resolution during the meeting.

Trustee Jeff Johnson, who was joined by Trustee Rozland McKee in voting in favor of the ban, said after the meeting that when he moved to Etna Township more than 35 years ago, it was a dry township.

Woodbury cannabis dispensary debate returns – The Photo News

You would be forgiven for mistaking parts of the December 14 Woodbury Village Board Meeting for looking like something out of the 1936 film, “Reefer Madness.” Despite the fact that the governments of both the town and village of Woodbury have opted to allow dispensaries and consumption sites within their borders, a vocal minority spoke before the board concerning their opposition to the opening of local cannabis dispensaries in Woodbury. If municipalities wished to opt out of allowing dispensaries within their borders, they had to do so by Dec. 31, 2021. Those in attendance did not express any objections to the consumption or sale of alcohol, which is also legal in the village and has been found to be far worse for the brain, according to scientists at the University of Colorado Boulder in a recent journal article.

One Highland Mills resident raised concerns about people consuming cannabis on-site at the forthcoming dispensary and then “driving through our neighborhoods.” He added, “I don’t want them on the roads. I don’t want them in town.” How this would be any different from someone visiting Central Valley Liquors, purchasing alcohol, and then driving home remains unclear, as driving under the influence of

East Bay retirement community pushes city to allow cannabis dispensary – CBS News

WALNUT CREEK — Seniors in an East Bay retirement community are pushing for a new local cannabis dispensary but the city of Walnut Creek remains opposed.

A vocal group believes a new change at the top could mean a win in their fight for a dispensary.

They say the outgoing mayor thwarted their efforts to pave the way for a brick-and-mortar store.

The city of Walnut Creek greenlighted cannabis business HerbNJoy in 2020. It can deliver recreational cannabis products to residents but is not allowed to open a storefront dispensary.

“If that does not happen, it’s extremely difficult to survive,” said HerbNJoy owner Falguni Dave.

Dave believes a brick-and-mortar shop close to the seniors community of Rossmoor would help residents.

“Customers want to come to you. They want to see your face. They want to talk to you, sit there and then, maybe, purchase a product,” Dave said.

Renee Lee isn’t shy about how marijuana eases her pains.

“It just helps with anxiety, pains, yeah — life — dealing with life and muscle movement,” Lee said.

The 70-year-old struggled to wean herself from countless prescription drugs until she began smoking cannabis 20 years ago.

“It helped me to get off all those meds,” Lee said.

Dispensary’s grand opening amid cannabis sale paused by health department – WLOX

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) – Cannabis dispensaries struggled to supply patients with medicine Thursday after the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) announced an administrative pause on a large number of cannabis products.

The department cited a concern over regulatory standards. MSDH announced that the affected cannabis products cannot be sold and will undergo retesting to ensure safety.

In Pascagoula, the city’s first medical cannabis dispensary prepared for its grand opening amid the problem. What was meant to be a celebration turned into concern for The Herbalist’s owner James Stone, who says that the announcement came suddenly Wednesday.

“I get a call from the state telling me to pull all products from my shelves that were tested from Rapid Analytics,” he said. “From what I understand, Rapid Analytics is the largest tester in the state. The majority of my products are tested by them, and so are the other dispensaries from what I’m hearing. I’ve been scrambling around here since yesterday to figure out which items were tested from a different company and which ones I can sell and couldn’t sell.”

In the back stock room filled with cannabis stock, Stone estimated that 80% of his supplies could not be sold because of the

California’s Largest Dispensary Chain Stiiizy Accused of Running Illegal, Underground Pot Shops – SFist

After an LA Times investigation connected the co-founder of huge dispensary chain Stiiizy to nine illegal marijuana shops in Southern California, a new lawsuit accuses Stiiizy of operating twice as many illegal, unlicensed dispensaries.

San Francisco has three locations of the chain-store cannabis dispensary Stiiizy (Union Square, SoMa, and Mission-Bernal), but you might not realize they’re the biggest dispensary chain in California with 31 locations. Moreover, Stiiizy sells more cannabis products than anyone else in the state, with an reported 8.9% market share, the largest of any cannabis company statewide. And Stiiizy has a ton more dispensaries in Southern California (17, with another opening next week) than here in the Bay Area, while parenthetically, the Los Angeles metro area happens to be crawling with illegal, unlicensed dispensaries the likes of which we do not see here.

And a Los Angeles Times report last week shocked the legal weed industry by connecting Stiiizy to the illegal L.A. pot shops. The Times reported that Stiiizy co-founder Tony Huang has owned nine buildings that operated illegal pot shops, and moreover, had faced lawsuits from the City of Los Angeles and City of Compton alleging that Huang knew full well he owned sites running underground weed

Gotham Dispensary Celebrates Stephanie Boyd-Berks Exhibition – The Knockturnal

Gotham, the newest (and chicest) Lower East Side dispensary holds more than the latest and greatest offerings in THC, CBD, and home décor products currently available on the medicinal market.

The store’s second level is also home to its gallery collection. The latest exhibit by artist Stefanie Boyd-Berks is a collection of hand-stitched embroidered 3D pictures titled “Wild Order.” The collection is an abstract representation of the journey on the way to and within parenthood.  “Wild Order” premiered at Gotham this past week and a reception was held at the store in Stefanie’s honor.

Stefanie Boyd-Berks, a Rhode Island School of Design-trained artist, originally got her start in painting but moved onto fibers when she realized painting was too messy and stitching was better for her anxiety. The process for Boyd-Berk’s work is arduous but ultimately rewarding. “I sketch directly on the fabric. So, usually I start in a yellow or some kind of light-colored pen. And then underneath the embroidery there is a hot mess of sketches,” Stefanie says. “I’ll move on to, like, a green and then a blue and then a black as I get more confident with what I want to do. I’ll sketch it in
